Win your own Swedish Island

Private islands have long been the ultimate luxury. Now Visit Sweden is democratising that dream by offering the chance to win one. Why? Because Sweden has more islands than any other country. 267,570, to be exact.

So runs Visit Sweden’s latest campaign, which invites potential visitors to discover a world of islands in Sweden. The campaign offers the opportunity to win one of five different islands and also features a host of island getaways, hidden gems and Sweden’s archipelagos.

Out of Sweden’s many islands, Visit Sweden – together with the National Property Board – has hand-picked five to be made available to one international traveller each over a twelve‑month period. Applicants are asked to explain why they deserve to become an island custodian. The most creative submissions, selected by a jury and announced in May 2026, will earn the right of use for a full year.
